We’re delighted to welcome Ki Agency’s newest client, screenwriter Collet E. E. Collins, to the newsletter today. Collet, take it away!
Born and raised in Sydenham, S.E London, Collet is now based in N.W London. An award-winning short-film-maker and early recipient of the Prince’s Trust, she ran both successful charity and non-profit businesses. This multi-talented young woman wisely explored various aspects of the media when she was studying a Skillset Media Academy Bachelors in Film at Middlesex University. From production to editing, directing and even acting, Collet has amassed many talents which have prepared her well for her chosen industry. She decided to embark upon her Masters degree in Screenwriting at London’s Goldsmith’s University and has just graduated with flying colours.
Collet’s horror rom com feature film, DYING TO LOVE YOU, impressed The Ki Agency, so we instantly signed her up. Collet’s vivid imagination knows no bounds. She has always loved stories with super-natural themes and has always had a penchant for horror films since she was a youngster: “CANDYMAN gave me my first nightmare, aged 8 and A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET inspired me to write my first horror short story.” When she isn’t busy writing, Collet also loves video games, anime and playing board games with her family. You can visit her website here.
What are you reading right now?
I'm reading scripts right now, also Save The Cat :-) I don't read many books: I'm dyslexic so I get tired quickly, so my go-to is audio books. If I read a synopsis and I think it's great then I'll download the audio book and listen on my journeys around London. However, if the book is more of a technical fact-based book or something I'm learning from like Save the Cat I can read it cover to cover and often.
What’s the last great book you read?
The Bible. No kidding. Any book I've read after pales in comparison. The book of Bible stories is the most exciting book you'll ever read! You don't have to be a Christian to enjoy it. Every film that was ever made has some variation of a bible story.
What’s your best advice for aspiring writers?
Write! Then network, then promote then write some more!
What’s the most interesting fact you’ve learnt recently?
That in women's bone marrow we carry stem cells of sperm and we can potentially create life without the aid of a man 🤷🏾♀️
What film or TV show do you never tire of?
Hannibal. The TV show is near to perfection in my eyes. Sure there are things I would update about the show to modernise some themes, but it is pure art. For me the film is Terminator II. It has everything. I would recommend anyone to sit down and really dissect that movie if you want to write something incredible.
Thanks so much, Collet! And thank you as always for reading! See you next week!
