Welcome back! Today we’re delighted to introduce you to Camille Gatin, producer extraordinaire. Take it away, Camille!
Tell us about yourself?
I’m a producer. I was nominated for aBAFTA and won a BIFA award for Mike Carey's feature adaptation of award winning and best selling novel The Girl With All The Gifts, whichColm McCarthy directed and which starred Glenn Close, Gemma Arterton, Paddy Considine.
My first feature, Shadow Dancer, was directed by Oscar winning director James Marsh, and starred Andrea Riseborough, Clive Owen and Gillian Anderson. I also produced flagship ITV series Endeavour, the reboot of Inspector Morse.
What are you currently reading?
I'm re-reading Kazuo Ishiguro's Remains of the Day.
What’s the last great book you read?
The Watsons by John Coates.
What’s your best advice for aspiring writers?
Trust the little voice in your head - especially when it tells you something doesn't work!
What’s the most interesting fact you’ve learned recently?
Never break bad news on a Friday. Whatever it is, it can wait until 8am on a Monday and the recipient of the aforementioned bad news will thank you for not spoiling their weekend.
Lightning round! What film or TV show do you never tire of watching?
The Devil Wears Prada
What's your favourite cocktail?
Gin and tonic
What's your favourite song?
The DJ Yoone The Moon remix of Cristobal Tapia de Veer's Utopia soundtrack.
Which character from film, TV or book would you be?
Megan from Bridesmaids, played by the formidable Melissa McCarthy. The pity party monologue part of her, that is!
What fictional universe would you live in for a year?
It's an obscure reference, but there's a fantastic Belgian comic book series by Roger Leloup called Yoko Tsuno. Her best friend is Khany, a blue skinned alien from the planet Vinea. I'd definitely hang out on Vinea for a year.
What historical epoch would you time-travel to?
The 1970's.
Thank you, Camille!
In agency news, we’re delighted to be able to vaguebook that the brilliant Tiarna Armstrong is working on a secret project that we’ll be able to tell you about in the new year… Yes, we used ‘vaguebook’ as a verb. We’re proud descriptivists!
